Sunshine & Blooms: Handpainted Jaipur Blue Pottery Vase
Description
Jaipur Blue Pottery Vases — New Addition to the Tribe Chatari Collection
Discover the timeless elegance of *Jaipur Blue Pottery, a Turco-Persian craft that travelled from Central Asia through the Mughal courts before finding its true home in Rajasthan under the patronage of Sawai Ram Singh II. What makes this pottery truly rare is its **no-clay technique* — a “dough” made from quartz stone powder, powdered glass, Multani mitti (fuller's earth), borax, and gum, hand-molded and shaped rather than thrown on a wheel in the conventional sense.
Each piece is finished with a distinctive glassy glaze, coloured using natural oxides: cobalt for the signature blue, copper for turquoise-green, and other mineral oxides for warm yellows and earthy tones. The pottery is then fired at a low temperature, giving it a delicate, almost translucent quality unlike any other ceramic tradition in India.
*Design & Motifs*
Traditionally inspired by Persian arabesques, geometric lattices, and floral vines, Jaipur Blue Pottery has evolved to embrace vibrant contemporary palettes — making it equally at home in a heritage haveli or a modern minimalist interior.
